Nasturtium flowers and leaves for Bearded Dragons
Bright, bold and packed with goodness, nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus) is one of the best-loved edible flowers in the reptile-keeping world - and for good reason.
Both the flowers and leaves are completely safe for bearded dragons, offering a vibrant splash of colour that stimulates natural feeding interest and encourages even fussy eaters to get stuck in.
Rich in natural nutrients, nasturtium provides a meaningful nutritional boost alongside your dragon's staple diet. The flowers and leaves are a natural source of vitamin C, which supports immune function and tissue health, and beta carotene (a precursor to vitamin A) - an essential nutrient for bearded dragons that is often lacking in captive diets.
Vitamin A deficiency is one of the most common nutritional issues seen in pet bearded dragons, making nasturtium a simple and natural way to help top up levels. The plant also contains lutein and zeaxanthin, two powerful antioxidants that support eye health, and has naturally occurring glucosinolates which have well-documented antimicrobial properties.
Scattered into an enclosure, it encourages natural foraging behaviour and provides valuable enrichment - keeping your dragon mentally stimulated and engaged with their food.
